FrankenTele close-upAnd yet again, the site gets neglected for almost two months!

Mind you, I have my excuses all lined up and ready. To start with, since the last update, I got a new job! Preparation for the interview, exhilartion at being accepted, then four weeks of solid drudgery clearing my desk of projects in the old job have all taken their toll in terms of time and "want to".

However, I've just survived my second week in the new post, and celebrated by doing some more work on the secret project.

In addition to the home-builds, I've also added a couple more Tanglewood acoustics, a Skylark bowlback nylon acoustic, a Martin Backpacker and an Epiphone Nighthawk Custom to the ridiculous collection of six stringed instruments cluttering the house. Oh, and my leaving gift from my old job was a Stagg ukelele! I popped over to see my dad to find out whether he had a uke "teach yourself" book. Not only did he have a fantastic book, he gave me an ancient ukelele banjo to add to my restoration projects.

Old news is now archived on the "Almost a blog" page.

I don't seem to watch much television, so I end up getting engrossed in my hobbies. Since I started learning to play the six-string guitar in May 2007, I've been fascinated with the idea of building my own.

My mum-in-law bought me a kit (a Telecaster clone) that I enjoyed building - but somehow that's not quite the same as making loads of sawdust out in the garden shed for night after night.

The kit-built Tele served a purpose though. It made me start looking around at what other home-builders were up to. Reading through their sites gave me the encouragement to have a go. It also gave me the encouragement to document my efforts and stick them in this corner of web real estate.

A site in two halves

FrankenTele close-upI used to record other musicians for a living, or play their bass lines for the same reason. Dragondreams came about when I stopped doing it for other people and started doing it for myself.

Along with the guitar-building stuff, I've also found a home in here for some of my music. Please feel free to take a listen. The only thing I ask is that you try not to be too critical and remember that these tunes are written, played and recorded purely for my own amusement.
