It's been quite a while since I was spending almost every hour of my free time out in the shed making loads of sawdust. New relationships have a habit of interfering with one's hobbies...

I made the mistake of talking to the guy I sold my Thinline to. :(

He loves it and reckons it's the best guitar he's ever owned!

SO!

I've just bought some nice chunks of mahogany that are the perfect size for a Tele body. Watch this space. If I get chance, I'll document the build... ;)

I went for mahogany for the "darker" tonal qualities. I already have a "bright" Tele and I'm after something a bit more visceral.

Just scouring the net for other parts that might come in handy. I still haven't made up my mind about the pups yet, but I have a sneaking suspicion they'll be something from Iron Gear. I fancy the stacked Steel Twin humbucker in the bridge, but I'm toying with the idea of either an Alchemist 90 or a Blues Engine in the neck position.

I'm also laying out the pieces to resurrect my 24 fret Telecaster. The holly-bodied beast is not getting played (and no one seems to want to buy it) so it's going to get used as the donor. I've got most of the parts for this one sorted.

And, tucked away in the attic, is the roughed-out body for DD5, along with the glued maple blank for DD6. It could be a busy spring!

I'll do my best :)

The 24 fret Tele may well be the first project that gets rolling though. I'm going to wait for warmer, drier weather before I get busy with raw mahogany. ;)

Where are the photos? A build thread without photos is like a horse with no name.

I haven't started the projects yet, Ross...

As soon as I get back off holiday, these will be started in earnest. :D

The mahogany Thinline is shaping up nicely. Routed the outline, chambered it, cut the F-hole and glued the back on a couple of weeks ago. Then promptly forgot about it. At least the glue has had chance to really harden! ;)

Clamps came off today. Apparently, it's looking good (I wasn't there when my dad took the clamps off).

I'll be popping over at the weekend to collect it. It'll gimme chance (and a reason) to clear my shed so that the rest of the work can continue in the evenings.

Pics when I get it back home.

Sneak preview of the headstock. This is NOT the neck I'll be using. I've just Photoshopped the logo on there to see how it looks. Finished item will be inlaid.

I didn't get over to my dad's to collect the body today. And I didn't get the shed tidied out either. Maybe tomorrow (unless my grandaughter decides tomorrow is THE day... ;) ).
